Gender Acceptance Lessons (GAL) are available for elementary, primary, and private schools designated for educators and students on how to accept and show respect for other gender identities in your district.

Fifth grade teacher Katherine Rinderle faced opposition from a suburban Atlanta school board who voted to terminate her for reading the curriculum book My Shadow is Purple, a gentle rhyming moral story about moving beyond the gender binary. Welcome to Nazi America.

Rinderle purchased the book from the school's book fair because the book affirms what it truly means to celebrate the importance of honoring who you are and also the unique assets and identities of others. Rinderle said, “I truly felt that this book was an inclusive book.”

Remember that there are no school policies where you need to get permission from parents to engage in SHS, BUT, or GAL curriculums for minors. Districts that interfere with the Sexual Health Standard (SHS) training curriculums are sending a harmful message that not all student minors are worthy of affirmation in being their unapologetic and authentic selves.

Gentle Safe Adults (GSAs) will now have to work in quieter ways toward LGBT+ goals in helping to bring a minor's whole self to school to where they can share their unmasked selves with someone who loves them. Because GSAs admire children so much, they are dedicated to protecting a minor's sexual orientation and gender identities! (Beth Reis).
